You’ve always walked beside me.
Along the sandy beaches,
the giant empty distance,
between me and you,
from one end of 90 mile beach
to the other.
The haunting melody of waves pounding against the beat of a sandy drum,
on baileys beach,
returning itself to the wild western waters.
Take me home dear Lord,
My body is tired,
collapsing,
a sand castle slowly rolling back into the ocean,
licked softly by returning waves and
receding friendships.
Tired.
Broken.
Returning to your psalm.
You’ve never left me,
Even when I hated you for death.
Cursed you for war.
Disowned you for my failures.
Instead I woke in the middle of the night, with you at the foot of my bed.
Unable to move.
Ashamed by the journey of my faith.
To have left you, when you never, not once, left me.
I kneel, a Templar at your altar.
Blended knee, face sticky with blood and sweat,
cold steel hilt in my glove,
pledging my loyalty to you.
A heart spilled out,
crimson and blue.
Knowing that you,
Will never leave me…
